TV news and documentary programmes
Today television is the best way to relax. You don't have to do anything but to watch and enjoy. Television offers a great variety of channels that corresponds all interests of the society. Day by day the audience of TV viewers increases and new requirements appear. That is why TV adopts new kinds of programmes and invents new ways of keeping the attention of the viewer. Besides, nowadays a high competition exists between them. That is why television companies just have to invent something to keep their audience. That is why new genres appear, the price for the channel becomes available, and commercials are showed only at exact time. The air time becomes more valued and only some watched programmes appear in the screen of our TV sets.
There are a lot of programmes that have different audience: teens, pensioners, and middle aged people. Television has invented genres for everybody. Grannies and housewives just "freeze" in front of the screen to see their favourite soap operas, children don't want to go to bed and they watch cartoons from early in the morning till late at night. Businessmen the whole day round watch stock exchange and economical news. Teenagers watch movies and TV shows.
The development of television has elaborated new genres, and new programmes have appeared. But the traditional ones are still very popular. The most popular are:
TV news is the most popular programme. People of all ages and professional groups watch news every day. The usual news programme includes international political, cultural and economic news, national political, cultural and economic news, sports news, weather forecast.
As a rule it contains very interesting information about the latest events that happened in the country. It tells about the political argues and problems, about financial situation in the country, about economical situation in the world, about some festivals or cultural events that took place in the country or in the world, the results of the sports games and interesting moments of them. In general if you watch news you know everything and can see how this or that happened with your own eyes.
Besides it presents the opinions of many people (in majority of cases these people are the experts in this or that field) and their personal views on these or those problems. Thanks to it people can make a complete picture of the events and form their personal opinion.
One of the problems is that sometimes people don't pay attention to what is said and don't take the opinions from the critical position and then just repeat the words heard by TV and even don't understand what they are talking about.
The other problem is the untrue information that gives sometimes the channel. Influenced by some political leader or a party or just by the preferences of the owner it gives untrue information. People take this information as true that leads to misunderstanding of the whole situation in the world.
Documentary programmes were particularly popular in the 20th century and as a rule had the historical topic. Nowadays it is not so watched, but still popular.
As a rule, it is a programme that tells the facts on this or that topic. These programmes are very useful and can give you the information on the topic you need in original and interesting way. Such programmes are widely used in educational purposes at schools and in Universities.
There are programmes that deal with the topics concerning famous people, history, nature, animals, planets, linguistics and many others. It is the best way to make a pupil remember the actions that took place in history and at the same time it is a good way to relax.
