Soap operas
Soap operas refer to the programmes that irritate everybody but everybody watches it. As a rule, soap opera is the film which has a great number of series showed one by one at exact time.
Some soap operas have 1000 series and even more. One of the most famous soap operas in the whole world is Santa Barbara that contains 2137 series. In spite of this fact people watch them and worry about the heroes of the soap opera. Sometimes people just fall in love with the heroes of it and can't live without getting to know what happened in the last series.
The thing that irritates people is that they don't have the possibility to watch everything in one time and to get to know the end, but have to wait for some time.
The most frequent audience of soap operas is the grannies and housewives, but of course there are a lot of people who watch soap operas from other categories of the population.
The most famous in the world are the Brazil soap operas. They are watched all over the world and have good rating.
Psychologists explain the high rating of soap operas by the fact that people watch other people suffering that make them feel better. It is cruel but it is truth. In other words, even if the person feels bad he/she can watch another person who has even worse situation. So according to the researches people who watch soap operas suffer less from depressions than people who don't watch them.
Comedies, dramas, fantasy, horrors – soap operas can be of different genres. Comedies are becoming more and more popular nowadays.
