Reality shows
Reality shows are maybe the most discussed programmes nowadays. It gained the world popularity in the year 2000.
Some people consider them to be positive others – negative. Reality shows are based on putting the group of people in certain conditions and broadcasting their actions without script. This is the new genre of television which was invented to keep the attention of people. People who watch these shows are of different age and professional categories. In majority of cases reality shows are games that have some special rules. The participants are not the actors but ordinary people.
And this is one of the reasons why reality television is so popular in the whole world. People have the possibility to take part in them and see the ordinary people but not the actors. That makes the illusion of participating in the events that take place in the screen. Besides, psychologists explain the popularity of such shows by the natural desire of a person to know what is happening in the life of the others.
The most characteristic features of reality shows are: participants are put into a certain location isolated from the rest of the world, camera always shoots the events that happen in that location that are later showed by television and sometimes in the internet, reality show is based on a game that is why it has some rules and some prize.
The problem is that the actions we see don't always go their own way freely. In most cases the show is well managed to provoke argues, scandals, the competition between some participants and other. All this allows keeping the interest and the attention of the person.
Recently a great number of critics of reality television have appeared. Those who are against them say that reality shows have a negative impact on the psyche of the person especially on the child's. Children don't have well formed and stable views on the world, some appreciations and values; they are in the process of forming. The most famous reality shows use some rude and pornography pictures to raise the rating that influences the child's views on the world.
But people don't only worry about the psychology of the audience but also of the participants. According to the researches people suffer from the constant presence of the cameras wherever they go. But sometimes people can really become celebrities or discover their talents through reality shows.
